These are ceramic patterned tiles named Pombaline. They were very used in the reconstruction of Lisbon following the earthquake of 1755. We can still see them in old portuguese kitchens, bathrooms, entry halls and patio walls.
So, I was proposed to redesign it. My aim was to increase the value of the product by giving it a modern touch.
I took the silhouette of the flower on the old tile and simplified its curves. Then I made several shape and color tests. Also, I simulated its appliance in two bathrooms.
